13. Anti Oxidant Effects

Free radicals are the natural by-products of many oxidative metabolic processes within cells.These free radicals can cause damage to cell walls, certain cell structures and genetic material within the cells. Oryzanol found in rice
bran oil is also a potent antioxidant.One test-tube study found that oryzanol was more than four times as effective at stopping tissue oxidation as vitamin E.

1. In a Scientific study by university of Sassari, Italy, oryzanol improved the oxidative stability of oils which were very prone to lipoperoxidation because of their high content of polyunsaturated fatty acids.

2. In a study by department of Food Science and Technolgy, Seoul National university of Technology when oryzanol was added to lard (Pig Fat) it remained stable on heating.

3. In a study by Fisheries Laboratory, Kinki university Japan it was found that when Oryzanol added to brown fish meal diet not only suppressed the dark color pigmentation but also oxidative stress in cultured red sea
bream.
