16. Effect on Nephrotic Syndrome

Nephrotic syndrome is a nonspecific disorder in which the kidneys are damaged, causing them to leak large amounts of protein from the blood into the urine. Hyperlipidemia has been recognised since long as a common finding in patients of nephrotic syndrome. Serum Cholesterol and its fractions, high density lipoproteins (HDL), Low dendsity Lipoproteins( LDL), very low density lipoproteins (VLDL) and HDL/LDL ratio are significantly altered in patiets of nephrotic Syndrome.

A Study by Aligarh Muslim University, India has revealed that Rice Bran oil (Rich in Oryzanol) due to its hyperlipidemic property has been found to be beneficial for patients of Nephrotic Syndrome..
