Studies Conducted On
Anti-anxiety/stress and neuroprotective properties of Gamma-Oryzanol
Year of Study: 2020
Title of the Study: Gamma Oryzanol alleviates High-Fat Diet-induced anxiety-like behaviors through downregulation of dopamine and inflammation in the amygdala of mice / Salina Akter, Kazi Rasel Uddin, Hiroyuki Sasaki, Shigenobu Shibata / Frontiers in Pharmacology
In this study, Gamma Oryzanol potentially blocked high fat diet (HFD)- induced anxiety like behaviours via significant improvement of the primary behavioral parameters in behavioral tests. Findings of this study strongly suggest that Gamma Oryzanol exerts anxiolytic - like effetcs, possibly through down regulatiom of dopamine and via expression of proinflamatory ctokines TNF-α and IL-1β in the case of chronic HFD exposure.

Title of the Study: Gamma-oryzanol ameliorates the acute stress induced by behavioral anxiety testing in mice / Salina Akter, Hiroyuki Sasaki, Yuko Ikeda, Hiroki Miyakawa, Shigenobu Shibata / Journal of Pharmacological Sciences
From the findings of this study, it was concluded that Gamma Oryzanol might act as a potential complementary or alternative anxiolytic drug in the treatment of unavoidable weak-stress-induced anxiety.

Title of the Study: Gamma-oryzanol for behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia / Masahiko Fujii, James P Butler, Hidetada Sasaki / Japanese Psychogeriatric Society
In this study, significant improvements in agitation/agression, anxiety, irritability/lability, and aberrant motor activity were observed in the Patients with Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia, or dementia with lewy bodies after they used Gamma Oryzanol for four weeks. From the findings of this study, it was concluded that Gamma Oryzanol can significantly improve the symptoms of dementia, without compromising cognitive function or causing other side effects.

Title of the Study: Rice bran extract improves mitochondrial dysfunction in brains of aged NMRI mice / Stephanie Hagl, Dirk Berressem, Rehka Grewal, Nadine Sus, Jan Frank, Gunter P Eckert / Nutritional Neuroscience
From the results of this study, it was concluded that Gamma Oryzanol is a promising candidate nutraceutical for the prevention of age-related neurodegenerative diseases.

Title of the Study: Mechanistic basis for protection of differentiated SH-SY5Y cells by oryzanol-rich fraction against hydrogen peroxide-induced neurotoxicity / Norsharina Ismail, Maznah Ismail, Mustapha Umar Imam, Nur Hanisah Azmi, Siti Farhana Fathy, Jhi Biau Foo and Muhammad Firdaus Abu Bakar / BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine
This study investigated the neuroprotective properties of Gamma Oryzanol against hydrogen peroxide -induced neurotoxicity in differentiated human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells. The findings of this study suggest that Gamma Oryzanol may be an effective anti-oxidant that could prevent oxidative stress-induced neurodegenerative disorders.
