Title Of The Study: The Beneficial Effect of Rice Bran Extract Against Rotenone-Induced Experimental Parkinson’s Disease in Rats

The findings of this study suggest that the nutraceutical rice bran that contains γ- oryzanol, Vitamin-E, ferulic acid etc., may underlie the adjuvant susceptibility towards rotenone-induced Parkinson disease in experimental rats.

Title Of The Study: ORY supplementation mitigates acetaminophen-induced acute liver failure in male mice: role of oxidative stress and apoptotic markers

The study suggests about the protective effect of gamma oryzanol (ORY) supplementation was due to modulation of antioxidant defenses avoiding the apoptotic process.

Title Of The Study: Gamma Oryzanol Alleviates High-Fat Diet-Induced Anxiety-Like Behaviors Through Downregulation Of Dopamine And Inflammation In The Amygdala Of Mice / Salina Akter, Kazi Rasel Uddin, Hiroyuki Sasaki, Shigenobu Shibata / Frontiers In Pharmacology

In this study, Gamma Oryzanol potentially blocked high-fat diet (HFD)- induced anxiety-like behaviours via significant improvement of the primary behavioural parameters in behavioural tests. Findings of this study strongly suggest that Gamma Oryzanol exerts anxiolytic-like effects, possibly through down regulation of dopamine and via expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines TNF-α and IL-1β in the case of chronic HFD exposure.

Title Of The Study: Gamma-Oryzanol For Behavioural And Psychological Symptoms Of Dementia / Masahiko Fujii, James P Butler, Hidetada Sasaki / Japanese Psychogeriatric Society

In this study, significant improvements in agitation/aggression, anxiety, irritability/lability, and aberrant motor activity were observed in Patients with Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, or dementia with Lewy bodies after they used Gamma Oryzanol for four weeks. From the findings of this study, it was concluded that Gamma Oryzanol can significantly improve the symptoms of dementia, without compromising cognitive function or causing other side effects.

Title Of The Study: Effectiveness of γ-oryzanol in reducing neuromotor deficits, dopamine depletion and oxidative stress in a Drosophila melanogaster model of Parkinson’s disease induced by rotenone

This study suggests about neuroprotective potential of gamma oryzanol (ORY) and that this effect can be potentially due to its antioxidant action. In conclusion, the present results show that ORY is effective in reducing the ROT induced toxicity in D. melanogaster, which showed a neuroprotective action, possibly due to the presence of the antioxidant constituents such as the ferulic acid.

Title Of The Study: Mechanistic Basis For Protection Of Differentiated SH-SY5Y Cells By Oryzanol-Rich Fraction Against Hydrogen Peroxide-Induced Neurotoxicity / Norsharina Ismail, Maznah Ismail, Mustapha Umar Imam, Nur Hanisah Azmi, Siti Farhana Fathy, Jhi Biau Foo And Muhammad Firdaus Abu Bakar / BMC Complementary And Alternative Medicine

This study investigated the neuroprotective properties of Gamma Oryzanol against hydrogen peroxide-induced neurotoxicity in differentiated human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells. The findings of this study suggest that Gamma Oryzanol may be an effective anti-oxidant that could prevent oxidative stress-induced neurodegenerative disorders.
