Clinical Trials on
Gamma Oryzanol & formulations with Gamma Oryzanol as the active ingredient on oxidation and free radical damage
Title Of The Study: Proliferative and Protective Effect of Γ-oryzanol on L02 Cells Against Oxidative Damage Induced by Hydrogen Peroxide
Objective: To investigate the proliferative and protective effects of γ-oryzanol on L02 cells. Methods: The mode l of oxidative damage was established on L02 cells induced by H2O2. Cell viability, the contents of malondialdehyde(MDA) and glutathione(GSH), the activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD) and catalase(CAT), and the level of ROS were assayed on L02 cells treated with γ-oryzanol at various concentrations in vitro. Results: The cell viability was enhanced significantly, and the levels of ROS and MDA were decreased significantly, whereas the content of GSH and the activities of CAT and SOD were significantly increased by 0.1–0.4 mmol/L γ-oryzanol treatment after H2O2-induced oxidative damage in a dose dependent manner. Conclusion: γ-Oryzanol can effectively attenuate H2O2-induced oxidative damage at a dose of 0.1–0.4 mmol/L and maintain the normal physiology of the cells.
